YEAH! Peak of the Week 6/21 Summer Solstice, Essay, Tinned Fish

SUPER-LIMITED LIBRARY CASE!
Friday, 6/23, we are opening the treasure chest of library wines, which is pretty unheard of given the tiny quantities of our wines, but recent warm evenings spent with friends talking and opening bottles late into the night inspired us to pull out the key.

Happy Solstice
Today marks the summer solstice in the Northern Hemisphere. We welcome the longest day of the year and plan to bathe in the sunlight and warmth. You can find some history and science about this day here. It’s a good night to open a bottle you have been saving and get to work setting intentions and welcoming in the light of the season.

Essay
This essay in Emergence Magazine by geologist-writer and Professor, Lauret Edith Savoy, “surfaces tectonic movements alongside the deliberate construction of race in colonial America—and reckons with her own inheritances in this enduring terrain.” So often the happenings of place and that of human culture are separated and Savoy beautifully brings us back into the ground that we live upon.

Snacks
You can’t go wrong with summer sunsets and killer tinned fish. We are glad to see that two of our favorites, Patagonia Provisions and José Gourmet made this list. We suggest throwing a party and opening them all. They will make you happy straight from the tin or accompanied by a cracker or crusty baguette - a must have this summer!
