YEAH! Peak of the Week 3/15
This Extradimensional Peak of the Week is in honor of Women’s History Month and dedicated to all women that light the path.
"So let it be said that light will be shed when our world is led by leaders ahead of the headlines. These voices who are first on the front line, these women who stand up knowing the wind not by where it is, but by where it is blowing, leading worlds not by how society is, but by where change is going." - Amanda Gorman, youngest inaugural poet in U.S. history"
WINERY HAPPENINGS
Send a warm hello to Jill Davis! We hired Jill to join the Yeah! Team full time, and we can’t wait for everyone to meet her. Jill brings with her over 13 years of wine industry experience in various places around the world including NYC, Australia, Italy, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Sonoma County. Jill's interest in wine started while studying abroad in Paris and since then she's worked in almost every aspect of the wine industry including wineries, retail, restaurants, distribution and events. She brings enthusiasm and a passion for wines made from organic grapes and low intervention winemaking. Outside of wine, Jill enjoys baking, painting, reading and an endless curiosity to experience new places and cultures.
LISTEN
We have been enjoying this Women’s History Month 2023 playlistcourtesy of MAPS. At the top of our list of favorite female artists lives Valerie June, and her song Astral Plane is one we love so much we may have named a wine after it.
LITERATURE
Kate is a big Susan Cain fan. Her book, Bittersweet is a #1 New York Times bestseller and totally transformative. Susan reveals the power of a bittersweet, melancholic outlook on life, and delves into why our culture does not see its value. Her newsletter is worth checking out as well.
NEXT TIME YOU ARE IN NAPA
Tulocay Cemetery is a historic place in Napa and the final resting place of Mary Ellen Pleasant, a 9th-century Black American entrepreneur and abolitionist. Kate and the kids attended a plaque unveiling at her gravesite last week thanks to Teach Truth's 100 Plaques Project, which aims to spread knowledge through public displays throughout the Napa Valley. It was a gift for our family to learn more about this influential woman.
ART ON OUR WALLS
Favianna Rodriguez is an interdisciplinary artist, cultural strategist, and social justice activist based in Oakland, California. She released an incredible new series this month, Femmes of the Earth. One of her recent public art installations can be seen at Presidio Tunnel Tops National Park in San Francisco.
EATS
Marla Simon is the founder and CEO of Scarlet Fire Hot Sauce. She shares our love of music and camping, and she is making some serious hot sauce that goes well with open fire cooking under the stars. Made with fresno, habanero, and Thai chili peppers, this small batch hot sauce brings the heat and massive flavor in the best way possible.
